Apprenticeship
For the serious student and
aspiring teacher
This course on the practice, teaching, and art of Iyengar Yoga is self-paced; for current teachers, students ready to go deeper, and students considering teaching in the future.
Pre-requisites:
At least two years of class attendance
with a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor
Completion of Home Practice Course or
demonstration of knowledge
Level I - OBSERVATION
Takes from 6 - 12 months, 144hrs
6 Apprenticeship Workshops (18 hrs)
6 Apprentice Months within a 12 month period (126 hrs)
3 months observing
3 months assisting
Level II - TEACHING
Supervised teaching, substitute teaching, and teaching your own class. 2 years.
Level III - CERTIFICATION
The requirements and testing for certification in Iyengar Yoga are more rigorous, by far, than any other style. It is my personal hope that if you pursue Level II of this apprenticeship, you will pursue certification as well. It is an endeavor that will help you be the best teacher you can be.
**Apprentice Month
Observe 1 beginner class/week
Record Notes from observed classes
Attend at least 3 classes/week
and Journal
The movement of the body and the intelligence of the brain should synchronise and keep pace with each other.
